Do Not Fear...

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but  a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline."
2 Timothy 1:7
God calls each of us to engage in spiritual warfare at times. Whenever satan wants to come against one of God's children, he does so by trying to intimidate through fear. Have you recently felt as though you have been intimidated by fear? I have..Most of my friends and family would describe me as a strong, driven type A personality gal. Yet, lately I am feeling weak, vulnerable and fearful.

Water is life!

He turned the desert into pools of water and the parchedground into flowing springs (Psalm 107:35)
The last few months have been a roller coaster ride with my everydaydehydration and I mean the kind of thirst that when you go to talk you can't due to the mouth being so dry.  Yet, I am having a water retention problem so when you put these two together you have a very dried up feeling of being and looking like the big marshmallow man in Ghost Busters. The doctors say to drink water, water and more water.

Pray in the Holy Spirit

Pray in the Holy Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers.
(Ephesians 6:18)
Alot of times it is hard for me to open myself to the influence of the Holy Spirit, so I must be mindful to His guidance, so I will discover that my prayer life will change dramatically for the better. Is anyone out there feel the same way at times?

My Family Reunion and My Now Moment

I recently returned from spending a week with family members that I haven't seen in years and honestly I was a bit nervous on how everyone would get along. For my brother and my two sisters it has been 19 years since they saw each other. All of us had some baggage that we needed to get over and throw away if that week was going to work out.
Like most of you out there I too have a dysfunctional family and probably I am one of the main characters that can make it start going hay wire.

Blowing off steam

This is going to be one of my sound off blogs.. Some of it joyful and some of it not..
I just finished having my birthday week. I had a small birthday gathering at Hampton Inn on Thursday evening with a very select group of women. I say select group as each woman who came that evening has played a significant role in my life these past 7 years. I had to fight back tears more than once as I sat in the hotel room and listened to all the different conversations that were going on and seeing the faces and smiles of my closest and dearest sisters in Christ.

Offering His Holy Spirit

The Lord offers you His Holy Spirit if you surrender yourself to Him. It is His Spirit who gives you the ability to handle life's problems successfully in the certain knowledge that He will not forsake or abandon you. Paul wrote in Romans 8:31 "If God is for us, who can be against us?
Whatever your circumstances my be, remember that Jesus is constantly at your side to guide and help you. Please place your trust in Him as He leads you, and remember that He is guiding you toward God's eternal kingdom where there is only harmony and peace.

Total Commitment

If you want God's best, don't just think about how to invest your money, think about how to invest your life. Jesus said, "If you know these things...happy...are you if you...[do them]." Living this way means:
Imagine how honored you would feel if a president or prime minister decided to visit you and spend the night at your house. You wouldn’t leave dirty dishes piled up in the sink, clothes strewn across the floor, and a ring around the bathtub. No, you’d give the place a radical makeover!

Finding Your Joy- Letting Go Of Yesterday

Sometimes we have our joy, only to misplace it. There are as many ways for joy to elude us as there are personalities in the world, but one way we lose it is by not being present in the now. We spend so much time thinking about where we should have been, where we need to be, what we need to do, and how we're going to do it that we forget about right now. We're not going to get this second back, so why are we such poor stewards of this moment?
Notice, I didn't say be in

Give your entire life to Christ

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.”2Co 5:17 NIV
The story is told of a man reading a newspaper when he came across a map of the world. So he clipped it out, cut it into pieces and told his little boy to put it back together again. After a while the boy said to him, “I’ve done it!” His father marveled, “As quick as that? How did you do it?” His son said: “I turned it over and on the back was a picture of a man. I put the man together - and the world came together!

Pray Continually

Pray continually.”1Th 5:17 NIV"devotional- Bob Gass Ministries
The Bible says, “Pray continually.” If you can worry continually, you can pray continually; you just have to change your focus! Try to picture this: an enemy army has arrived intent on wiping out Israel. So Moses says to Joshua, “Take your best soldiers and go fight them. I’m taking two men, climbing the hill that overlooks the plains, raising my hands toward heaven and praying for victory” (See Ex 17:8-9). As Moses’ hands stretched heavenward, Joshua’s troops prevailed. But when Moses’ arms grew weary and he dropped them to his side, the tide of battle shifted. Joshua’s troops were being struck down. Again Moses stretched his arms toward heaven, bringing the matter before the Lord. Immediately the battle’s momentum shifted back to Joshua. Then it struck Moses - he must keep his arms outstretched toward heaven if he wants to open the door to God’s supernatural intervention here on earth. There’s a lesson here: if you are willing to invite God to involve Himself in your daily living you’ll experience His power in your home, your relationships, your career, and wherever else it’s needed. But the other side of the equation is sobering: it’s hard for God to release His power in your life when you just put your hands in your pockets and say, “I can handle this on my own.” If you do that, don’t be surprised if you get the nagging feeling that the tide of battle has shifted against you and that you’re powerless to do anything about it. To experience God’s power in your life you must pray continually, pray scripturally, and pray in faith.
